Knowing when to ask for help can be hard. CHADS provides help when you or someone you know is struggling to reach out or find hope. We strive to give young people in the St. Louis and surrounding areas the tools they need to get the care and help they deserve. Our services include classroom presentations, short term counseling, bullying prevention programs, and more. To learn more about depression, anxiety, and suicide, head to our signs and symptoms page.
With CHADS, there is hope and help. Below is a list of ways you can receive support or get involved with CHADS. If under the age of 18, discuss these options with your parents to see which is right for you and your family.
Family Support Counseling
Individual and group counseling is provided in our office in South County for youth ages 25 and under who are struggling with mental health issues and thoughts of suicide. To learn more about this option, head to our Family Support Program page with a parent or guardian, or have them call 314.952.8274.
Student Presentations
CHADS currently implements the evidence-based Signs of Suicide® program in over 200 St. Louis and surrounding area schools. The presentations teach students the signs of depression, the signs of suicide, and how to help themselves or a friend that may be showing signs. Additional presentation topics include bullying, peer pressure, self-injury, and stress. To find out if CHADS presents in your school, talk to your school counselor. Click here to learn more about CHADS presentations offered to middle and high school students.
Olweus Bullying Prevention
The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (pronounced ole-vay-us) is a multi-level approach involving students, staff, parents, and community leaders in order to create a more inclusive, supportive school environment. To discuss how to get Olweus in your school, talk to your school counselor. Learn more about Olweus on our Social Emotional Well-being program page.
Volunteer
You can make a difference in the lives of thousands of adolescents. If you are interested in getting involved with CHADS by volunteering your time, ask a parent or guardian for permission (if under 18), then fill out our volunteer form. You can also organize a fundraiser for CHADS! Learn more.
